Qatar DHP Specialist Exam- 2024

As of 2024, Qatar's Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP), MOHPH has introduced Examinations for some dental specialists who wish to work in the State of Qatar. The recognized specialties by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) are discussed below.  

Recognized Qatar Specialities based on Education:

Your specialty is recognised by DHP, MOHP if your Master's degree was a full-time clinical program of at least 2 years, if you belong to one of the following specialties: 

• Periodontics
• Pedodontics
• Endodontics
• Prosthodontics
• Oral Medicine
• Public Health Dentistry
• Orofacial Pain
• Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
• Restorative Dentistry. 

Your specialty is recognised by DHP, MOHP if your Master's degree was a full-time clinical program of at least 3 years, if you belong to one of the following specialties: 

• Oral Surgery
• Orthodontics
• Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Qatar Prometric Exam

Specialists belonging to the below categories may have to undergo a computer based exam help at Prometric Test centers. These test-centers are located globally in over 120 countries. 

1. Endodontics
2. Oral Surgery
3. Oral and maxillofacial Surgery
4. Orthodontics
5. Pediatrics
6. Periodontics
7. Prosthodontics
8. Restorative

Eligibility for Qatar Specialist License

Work Experience 

• Graduate from GCC Countries registered with Arab Board: No post-graduate work experience required to work in Qatar.
• Graduate from non-GCC Arab countries registered with Arab board: 2 years post-graduate work experience required.
• Graduates from Asian countries: 3 years post-graduate work experience required.

Exam Pattern

All Qatar Specialist exams last 3 hours and have 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The Exam is offered in English language only.

Pass Score

The pass score for Specialist Exams are set at 65%. 

For applicants applying as Specialist in Restorative Dentistry:

✓ Applicants holding one of the below certificates shall apply for evaluation as General Dentist provided that their degree is among the DHP Dentists' Approved Specialty Qualifications list.

• Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
• Conservative Dentistry
• Restorative Dentistry
• Operative Dentistry

✓ Upon approval of the evaluation application, applicants can apply for non-core privilege in Endodontics and /or Prosthodontics.

✓Further, applicants can apply for change scope of practice to Specialist in Restorative Dentistry based on the approval of the non-core privilege application.
